TOOL SHARPENING ON A CNC GRINDER

Grinding, reconditioning, and recoating of cutting tools reduces overall tool costs. WAKO TOOLS sharpens tools to a level close to the original specification, restoring an end mill to like-new condition, regardless of its original manufacturer. Pricing varies depending on the size of the coating and the tool’s diameter.
No matter how damaged the tool is, we can regrind almost any end mill, regardless of its condition. Most tools can be resharpened; however, if standard sharpening is not sufficient, reconditioning may be necessary. For cost-effective grinding, we recommend end mills with a diameter of Ø 6 mm or larger to justify the sharpening expenses. To achieve optimal performance, tools should be reground or reconditioned before excessive wear or damage becomes visible.

At the end of the production cycle, cutting tools must be removed and inspected
Damaged or chipped end mills may require re-grooving to restore the proper flute structure and radial rake angle. Dents and chips on the cutting edge lead to built-up edge formation and often result in the breakage of carbide end mills.
After multiple regrinds, the tool will lose its effectiveness. The rake angle and flute depth are reduced, making the end mill no longer suitable for reconditioning. Grinding reduces the end mill’s diameter and causes the radial rake angle and hook to recede.
